Beginning at Town Creek Park in Pickens, this stretch includes some exciting whitewater There is a high potential for woody debris in this section. Paddling may be difficult in lower water levels, especially during the summer months.
This 100-acre park has a variety of recreation offerings including dirt bike trails and jumps, sports fields, walking trails, playgrounds, and creek access. River access is located at the Pickens Rec. Center (1), Pickens Jaycee Park (2), and at the Volunteer Field (3). All three accesses include parking, and paddlers can walk along the paved trail to get to all accesses. For more information, click here.
River access and parking are located upstream river-left. Please park along the road and do not block driveways. This access is unofficial. Use at your own risk.

Once on the river, paddlers will experience some exciting Class II-IV rapids. After crossing under the Reece Mill Road bridge, the creek slows down. The second bridge paddlers will come upon is the Shady Grove Road bridge. Follow the left side of the creek and exit upstream of the bridge, river left.
