South Fork Edisto River

The South Fork of the Edisto begins as a small stream in Johnston, South Carolina. It flows southeast for 105 miles, where it meets the North Fork near Branchville to form the Edisto River. The South Fork has the most remote stretches of boating in the basin.

Paddling opportunities begin where New Holland Rd crosses the river northeast of Aiken, about 83 miles upstream of the confluence with the North Fork. Aiken State Park is 10 miles downstream and has a small paddling trail through the park. The South Fork is mostly narrow and winding, and may have trees down across the channel, possibly requiring portages. The final public access to the South Fork is Brabham's Landing, 12 miles upstream of the confluence with the North Fork.

Adjacent Waterway: downstream, Edisto River.
