This trip is beginner friendly, however there is a high potential for woody debris / fallen trees, and would be best suited at higher water levels. Primarily flatwater in nature, this section features mostly forested landscapes with suburban landscapes at the beginning of the trip.
Roadside parking and river access are available north of the W Georgia Road bridge, river-left. Park in the roadside dirt area and carry boats along the Greenway Trail to the bank of the river. Pull cars completely off the road.
River access is located off of Highway 418 on Jenkins Bridge Road; access the river downstream of the bridge on river right (400 feet upstream of Highway 418).
The put in and take out are a short 10 minute drive apart. Parking at the put in is available along the road to the Open Arms Hospice, just off of W Georgia Road. Do not block the entrance to the Hospice facilities and pull cars completely off the road. Portage boats along the Greenville Technical College Nature Trail (dirt trail) 450 feet to the river. Immediately after putting in, paddlers will cross under the W. Georgia Road bridge. The next road crossing is about halfway through the trip, and is New Harrison Bridge Road. There is a wastewater treatment facility directly upstream of the bridge, river left. Jenkins Bridge Road (the take out) is the next road crossing and paddlers should take out here. Limited roadside parking is available downstream of the bridge, river right, about 400 feet upstream of the Highway 418 bridge.
