This beginner friendly trip features flatwater with intermittent shoals/Class I rapids. Paddlers are required to exit the river before the Cedar Falls Dam, which is at the southern end of Cedar Falls Park.
River access is located off of Highway 418 on Jenkins Bridge Road; access the river downstream of the bridge, river right (400 feet upstream of Highway 418).
Hours for the park are 9:00 AM to dusk. River access is located at the south entrance, river right, with a
very short trail leading from the south entrance of the park down to the river. For more information and a detailed park map, visit: www.greenvillerec.com/parks/cedar-falls
Limited roadside parking is available along Jenkins Bridge Road downstream of the bridge, river right (about 400 feet upstream of the Highway 418 bridge). Cedar Falls Park is a short 6 minute drive from the put in. Paddlers should park at the southern entrance to the park, just below the Cedar Falls Dam (not at the entrance to the playground). After putting in, paddlers will immediately cross under the Highway 418 bridge. The next road crossing is McKelvey Road; there are large shoals/rocks downstream of the bridge, and paddlers should stay to the right. Upon reaching Cedar Falls Park, paddlers are required to take out (river right) before the Cedar Falls Dam, and portage boats 800 feet to the parking area.
