Lake Thurmond

Lake J. Strom Thurmond is located on the border of South Carolina and Georgia on the Savannah River. This 42,564 acre reservoir is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Construction began in 1946 and continued until 1954. This was the first project the US Army Corps of Engineers built in the Savannah River Basin.
