This section of the South Tyger River can be difficult at low water levels due to shallow waters and numerous wood and debris strainers. There are few Class I rapids along this trip.
Limited roadside parking is available along Highway 417. Do not park along the stretch where there are guardrails and be sure not to block any driveways. Paddlers should put-in river-left before the bridge.
Located on Ferguson Creek 100 feet before the South Tyger River. Park downstream river-right of Ferguson Creek.
The take out along Price House Road is about 20 minutes from Highway 417, so shuttling cars could take about 45 minutes. Once on the river, paddlers will cross under two bridges (a road bridge and a railroad bridge). The next road crossing is Highway 221 and is a pair of two bridges. Paddlers will cross under one more bridge, and then should begin to look for the take out. Price House Road is located 100 feet from the South Tyger River where Ferguson Creek meets the South Tyger. After crossing under the last bridge (4 bridges total, 5 if you count the Highway 221 bridges separately) paddlers will travel approximately 2 miles and should begin looking for the confluence of Ferguson Creek and South Tyger River on right right. Limited roadside parking is available along Price House Road. For more information see the Tyger River Blueway map.
