This is a scenic and leisurely float along the Saluda River between Lake Greenwood and Lake Murray. Expect mostly flat water with a few small shoals. The area is very rural with little development along the river.
Boat ramp with large parking lot. The ramp is on the south side of the river. There is a road to the boat ramp about 0.3 miles south of the river.
Boat ramp with a dirt parking lot. On the river, the ramp is about 700 feet downstream of the SC 121 bridge. From the highway, Higgins Ferry Road is accessed about 0.6 miles north of the SC 121 bridge over the river. Continue down Higgins Ferry Road until it makes a sharp left to the boat ramp.
This is an easy, half-day leisurely float along a very rural and scenic section of the Saluda River. There are a few small shoals, but the water is mostly flat. At lower water levels, there are nice rocks and sand bars for stopping to have lunch or go for a swim. The trip ends at the very tail of Lake Murray.
The take-out is about 700 feet downstream of the SC 121 bridge on the left. An alternative take-out is the Saluda River Resort, an RV Park with a boat ramp. Saluda River Resort is about 2 miles past the SC 121 bridge.
