Enter a nearly enclosed by known as the Duck Pond to explore large cypress swamp and abundant plant and animal life. A small sandy beach provides an opportunities for resting, swimming, or camping.
Large gravel parking lot, no fees, no restrooms.
The initial large enclosed bay opens onto a somewhat smaller area of cypress swamp which contains abundant plant life, cypress trees and grasses and is home for numerous wading birds as well as osprey and American alligators. About midway between the Fred Day Landing and the Duckpond is a small sandy beach area fronted by a small grove of cypress trees that is well suited for a lunch spot, swim call, or even primitive overnight camping.
Upon entering the lake proper from the landing, turn right and paddle in a southerly direction along the shoreline. The Duckpond will be about a half mile on your right.
