What to Expect

This is one of the most well-known sections of whitewater in the US. Section IV includes major whitewater, including Five Falls, a set of five Class IV-V rapids within 1/3 of a mile.

Put in:
Hwy 76 Bridge
Access Details

Large, paved parking lot, restrooms, trailhead, and an overlook of the Chattooga River. A short walk upstream lets you observe boaters take on Bull Sluice, a large IV+ rapid just upstream of the Highway 76 access.

Tugaloo Lake Boat Ramp
 Tugaloo Lake Boat Ramp, Bull Sluice Road, Long Creek, SC

Developed boat ramp with parking.

There are a number of commercial rafting guides in the area if you want to experience the Chattooga River's classic whitewater.
